Veteran Administration Service-Connection Disability Claims: Disability compensation is compensation paid to a veteran because of injuries or diseases that happened while on active duty, or were made worse by active military service. It is also paid to certain veterans disabled from VA health care. The benefits are tax-free.
Social Security Disability Claims: Social Security pays benefits to people who cannot work because they have a medical condition that is expected to last at least one year or result in death. Federal law requires this very strict definition of disability. While some programs give money to people with partial disability or short-term disability, Social Security does not.
Family Support Group: Having a strong and healthy support group is an essential component to a veteran’s healing. Through CVHCV there are support groups for the families and friends of veterans with PTSD. Please contact us to find out about groups in your area, or to start one in your community.
